PRIVACY POLICY β DRIVEREATS
Effective 1 September 2026. DriverEats is operated by Bentonville Digital. This covers DriverRuns and DriveEats, which are one account.
The short version: we collect what a delivery actually needs, we do not sell it, there are no advertising or analytics trackers on this site, and you can take a copy or delete the lot.
1. WHAT WE COLLECT
If you order:
- your email address, and your name and phone number if you give them
- the shops you name and the lists you write, including any lists you keep between orders
- the delivery address for each run, and any note you leave for the shopper
- your messages with your shopper, and any problem you report
- your card is entered directly with Stripe. WE NEVER SEE OR STORE YOUR CARD NUMBER β we hold only Stripe's reference to it, and not even the last four digits
If you shop for others, additionally:
- your date of birth (age requirements), vehicle type, and the areas you work
- A BACKGROUND CHECK, run by a consumer reporting agency, before you can take a run. You are asked separately and in writing first, and you may say no β you simply cannot drive. What we hold is the RESULT and the dates; your social security number is entered with the agency and never reaches this platform. If a report is the reason you are turned down, you are sent a copy of it and given time to dispute it with the agency before that decision is final
- your position while you are on a run you accepted, sampled roughly every three minutes while the app is open, plus the moment you arrive at the shop and the moment you hand the order over. See section 2 β nothing is recorded between runs or while the app is closed
- the agreement you signed, the exact words of it, and the date, IP address and browser you signed from β this is the evidence that the contract exists
- your completed runs and your earnings
- photographs you take on a run: the receipt, and the doorstep at delivery. THE DOORSTEP PHOTOGRAPH IS STORED WITH THE GPS POSITION AND ACCURACY OF THE DEVICE THAT TOOK IT. It exists to protect you in a dispute
- your Stripe account identifier and whether Stripe has enabled it. We do not hold your bank details
If you run a shop and claim a listing:
- what you told us about the business, and any document you upload to prove you can speak for it. THAT DOCUMENT IS DELETED AS SOON AS SOMEBODY HAS LOOKED AT IT AND DECIDED β it answers one question, and keeping it afterwards would store your identity papers to justify a decision already made
If you answer the welcome questions (entirely optional):
- broad bands only β an age range, whether it is a household, how you get around, the part of town, and a few interests. Never a date, an income or an exact address
2. WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT
No advertising trackers. No analytics product. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no session recording, no fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking of any kind. We do not buy data about you, and we do not track you when you are not on our site.
We do not track a shopper's location continuously, and we record nothing at all between runs, nothing while somebody is simply signed in, and nothing while the app is closed or in a pocket. There is no live map of where anybody is, and a customer is never shown a shopper's position β only how far away the order is.
While a shopper is on a run they have accepted, and only while their app is open on screen, their position is recorded when they arrive at the shop, when they hand the order over, and every few minutes in between. It is a sample taken roughly every three minutes, not a continuous track. It exists so a delivery can be evidenced in a dispute and so a customer can be told how far away their order is; it stops the moment the run ends.
3. WHY WE HOLD IT
To run the delivery you asked for; to pay your shopper; to show you a receipt; to answer a dispute with evidence rather than opinion; to keep legally required records; and to work out where to open next. Nothing else.
4. WHO IT REACHES
FIRST, THE PERSON DOING YOUR SHOPPING. This section used to list only the companies we use, which left out the disclosure that actually matters to most people: a run is carried out by another human being, and they are shown what they need to carry it out.
While your run is live, your shopper sees:
- the delivery address, and any note you left for them
- your list, and the shops you named
- your messages with them
- YOUR PHONE NUMBER, BUT ONLY IF YOU TICKED THE BOX ASKING US TO SHOW IT. It is not shown otherwise, it is never shown to a shopper who is not on your run, and it stops being shown the moment the run is delivered. If you untick the box while a run is already under way, it stops being shown then too β we look it up each time rather than copying it onto the order. If you leave it unticked they can still reach you through the messages on the order page
WE DO NOT SEND YOU TEXT MESSAGES AND WE DO NOT AUTO-DIAL YOU. There is no SMS on this platform at all. A phone number here does one thing: it lets the person standing in the shop ring you when something is out of stock, and only in the circumstances above.
Your shopper is NOT shown your name, your email address, your card, your order history, or any run of yours they are not carrying out.
WHAT YOU SEE OF THEM, while they are carrying your run, is their position and their messages. Not their address, not their phone number, not their earnings, and not their surname.
SEPARATELY, IF YOU PUBLISH A REVIEW: the display name and the photograph and colour you chose on your account appear beside it, on a public page, to anybody. Nothing is published unless you tick the box to publish it β a note you leave without ticking goes only to the person who did your run β and untick it and it comes down. The name shown there is the display name you set, never the billing name on your card.
SECOND, THE SERVICES WE USE, and only for the purpose named:
- STRIPE β payments. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never through us
- SUPABASE β the database and file storage where all of the above is held
- RESEND β sending you email about a run
- MAPBOX β drawing the map on an order page
- OPENSTREETMAP (Nominatim and Overpass) β turning an address into coordinates, and the shop directory. A delivery address you enter is sent to be geocoded
- OUR OWN ROUTING SERVER β working out the distance for a run. It is our machine, not a third party
- ANTHROPIC β the support assistant, and translating the site's own wording. IF YOU TYPE INTO THE SUPPORT BOX, WHAT YOU TYPE IS SENT TO THAT MODEL to answer you. Please do not put card numbers or anything you would not want read into it
- CHECKR β the background check on anybody who wants to shop or ride. They are the consumer reporting agency; your name, date of birth and social security number are entered with them directly, and the number never reaches us. Nobody who only orders is ever sent to them
- EXPO β delivering a notification to a phone. It receives a device token and the words of the message. It does not receive your name, your address or anything about what you ordered
We do not sell your data. We do not share it for anyone else's advertising. We will hand it over if the law requires it, and we will tell you unless we are forbidden to.
5. HOW LONG
Runs, receipts and delivery photographs: kept while the account exists, because they are the record of a transaction and the evidence in a dispute. Ownership documents for a shop claim: deleted at the decision. Support conversations: kept while the account exists. Anything we must keep for tax or payment records, we keep for as long as the law requires even if you close the account.
6. THE WELCOME QUESTIONS, AND ADVERTISING
If you answered them, we use them ONLY as counts β "how many people in this area are households", never "this person is". We suppress any group small enough to identify somebody. We use those counts to decide where to open and to describe the audience to potential advertisers IN AGGREGATE. We do not sell the answers, and no advertiser receives anything about you as an individual.
You can switch this off at any time on your account page, and you can leave the questions unanswered in the first place.
7. COOKIES
We use three, all necessary, none for advertising:
- a SIGN-IN cookie, so you stay signed in. It is HTTP-only and same-site
- a LANGUAGE cookie, remembering which language you chose
- a SUPPORT cookie, so the support box remembers your conversation. It lasts 90 days
There is no consent banner because there is nothing here to consent to: no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies are set, by us or by anybody else. Clearing cookies signs you out and forgets your conversation; nothing else is affected.
8. YOUR RIGHTS
On your account page you can:
- DOWNLOAD everything we hold about you, as a file
- DELETE your account and the personal data attached to it
- change your name, email and notification settings
- turn off use of your welcome answers in aggregate counts
Deleting is real deletion, not a flag. Some records survive it where the law requires β payment and tax records held by Stripe, and the fact that a payment happened β and a shopper's signed agreement and earnings history are kept for as long as tax law requires. Everything else goes.
You do not need a reason and we will not ask for one.
8A. STATE PRIVACY RIGHTS, AND WHY THEY ARE OFFERED TO EVERYBODY Several states β California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and others β give residents rights over their personal information, and each one applies only to companies above a certain size. WE DO NOT PROMISE YOU THAT ANY PARTICULAR STATUTE APPLIES TO US, because whether one does depends on thresholds that change. What we do instead is simpler: WE GIVE EVERY ONE OF THESE RIGHTS TO EVERYBODY, wherever you live, whether or not the law obliges us to.
You may ask us to:
- TELL YOU what we hold about you, why, and who it has reached
- GIVE YOU A COPY in a portable form β the download on your account page does this immediately
- CORRECT anything that is wrong
- DELETE it β the button on your account page does this immediately
- LIMIT how we use the more sensitive things below
WE DO NOT SELL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION AND WE DO NOT SHARE IT FOR CROSS-CONTEXT BEHAVIOURAL ADVERTISING. Those two phrases are defined broadly in those statutes, and we mean them broadly: no money and no other valuable consideration is taken for your data, and nothing about you is handed to anybody to advertise to you elsewhere. We sell advertising on COUNTS β "this many households in this town" β with any group small enough to identify somebody suppressed entirely. An advertiser is never shown a record, and there is no screen in this company that would let one be.
BECAUSE THERE IS NO SALE OR SHARE, A GLOBAL PRIVACY CONTROL SIGNAL HAS NOTHING TO SWITCH OFF. We honour it in the only way it can be honoured here: there was never anything to opt out of. If that ever changes, this paragraph changes first and we will say so before it does.
THE SENSITIVE THINGS, NAMED. Some of what we hold counts as sensitive personal information: your date of birth if you shop for others, your precise position while you are on a run you accepted, and the RESULT of a background check. Each is used only for the purpose described in section 1 β an age requirement, evidencing a delivery, deciding whether somebody may drive β and for nothing else. We do not use any of it to infer anything about you, and we never sell or share it.
HOW TO ASK. The download and delete buttons on your account page are the fastest route and need no request. For anything else, email privacy@driverruns.com from the address on your account. WE VERIFY BY THE ACCOUNT, not by asking you for documents: being signed in, or writing from the address we already hold, is the proof. If you use an authorised agent, we will ask for something showing you asked them to act.
HOW LONG WE TAKE. Within 45 days. If something makes that impossible we will tell you inside those 45 days, say why, and take at most 45 more.
IF WE SAY NO, YOU CAN APPEAL. Reply to our answer and say you are appealing. A different person reviews it and responds within 45 days with a decision and the reasons for it. If we refuse again you may complain to your state's attorney general, and we will tell you how in that reply.
ASKING COSTS YOU NOTHING. We will not charge you, close your account, refuse you service, give you a worse price or a slower delivery, or treat you differently in any way for exercising any of this.
9. CHILDREN
DriverRuns is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect anything about children. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
10. SECURITY
Everything travels over HTTPS. Files β receipts, doorstep photographs, ownership documents β are held in private storage that is never publicly readable and is reachable only through a request we have already checked. Card details never touch our servers.
No system is perfect. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.
11. CHANGES
If we change this in a way that matters, we will say so on the site before it takes effect. The version and date at the top will change.
12. CONTACT
