Questions

The things worth knowing first.

Every answer here is what the software actually does, not a description of what we would like it to do.

Why is the hold on my card bigger than my list?

Because nobody knows the real prices until somebody is standing at the shelf. The hold is your estimate plus 15% of headroom — room for a heavier cut of meat or a price that moved — and it is a hold, not a charge. When the receipt is photographed you are charged what the till actually said and the rest is released. The maximum is frozen the moment you place the order and it can never be raised afterwards, by us or by anybody.

What if something is out of stock?

Your shopper asks you, from the aisle, with the substitute’s real price in the question. Nothing is bought without your yes. If you say no, or you are not there to answer, the item is simply not bought and you are not charged for it — an unfound item costs nothing rather than being estimated at something.

Do you mark up the groceries?

No, and the order screen proves it line by line against the photographed receipt. You pay the register price. Our fee is a separate flat figure that does not move with the size of your basket, and it is named on the same screen.

Is there a minimum order?

No, and there is no small-order fee under any name. A trip made only for you owes the shopper their $8.00 floor whatever is in the bag, so a one-item dedicated run is not cheap — but a stop on a scheduled loop that is already happening is, at a flat rate whether it is one item or forty.

Can I choose who shops for me?

Yes. Pick somebody and the run is held for them alone for 12 minutes before it goes to everybody else, so choosing a person does not mean waiting indefinitely if they are busy. You can also leave it open and the first available shopper takes it.

Who is actually shopping for me?

An independent contractor in your area, using their own vehicle and their own money at the till. They are not our employee. They see your address only after they have taken the run, and you see who they are before you place it.

How does the shopper get paid?

From a rate card we publish in full — base, per item, per mile, waiting time, and the fuel and weather pass-throughs. They know what a run pays before they accept it. The card is here and needs no account to read.

Can I cancel?

Before anybody has taken the run, yes, and nothing is charged — the hold is released. Once a shopper has started buying, they have spent their own money on your behalf, so cancelling is not free. The full position is here.

Do you charge sales tax?

We do not. The shop charges it at its own till, exactly as it would if you had walked in yourself, and it appears on the receipt you are shown. We are not the merchant for anything you buy.

What do you do with my address and my list?

Your address is not visible to any shopper until they have taken your run. Your list is used to price and shop the run and nothing else — we do not sell it, and we do not import or resell shop catalogues. The privacy policy is here.
